The corgi with the tail. Cardigan Welsh Corgis originated in Ceredigion (historically Cardiganshire), Wales, in the United Kingdom. They were initially bred as farm guardians and for driving and herding cattle. The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is an active and fun-loving dog valued for its companionship. They are very loyal and intelligent and need plenty of physical and mental stimulation. 

The breed comes in the following eight color patterns, always with a beautiful tail:

  • Red, all shades
  • Sable, all shades
  • Red brindle
  • Black brindle
  • Black with tan points
  • Black with brindle points
  • Blue merle with tan points
  • Blue merle with brindle points
