Cynology is the study of matters of dogs. It comes from the Greek words kynos for “dog” and -λογία or -logia, for ‘the study of.” What are the “matters of dogs?” “Matters of dogs” refers to dog breeding, training, handling, judging, and shows. Most cynology, especially as it relates to the sport of hobby cynology, occurs within the compounds of kennel clubs.
